I'm not sure what this imposing piece of equipment does, but it definitely means business!
That's exactly what it is doing: clearing the stumps and leveling the soil so that the large timbers can be placed there. That task is continuing today, so if you are in the neighborhood, you could probably peek through the fence and see it in action.
Nice picture. Maybe that machine had something to do with removing the tree stumps.
