Day 191, 7 May 2013

My neighbor and i were out on the porch a couple of nights ago speculating about why the steel casing at the north end stuck out so much farther from the wall than the one in the middle. Then today, the crew went back to working on that section with the final result (bottom picture) showing this casing positioned much closer to the wall. I really wonder how far under the trackbed the casings extend and what happens where they end.

As i was hurrying to catch the L this morning, the crane was busily engaged in raising the huge (and hugely heavy looking) screw; so, of course, i had to stop and take a few pictures.

For a different perspective, here's how things looked through the window of an inbound L a few minutes later.

And here's how it looked at the end of the day.
