Day 335: 28 September 2013

On this busy Saturday, work began early in the morning as the crew prepared for the arrival of more concrete, this time for the southern end of the substation.
Because i had a bird's-eye view of all the action and because i was grateful for any distraction from the pile of work that i need to finish this weekend, i took more pictures than usual.

Meanwhile at the north end, metal beams are in place for what appears to be a ceiling.
See the last two pictures in this series for the progress made in this area during the day.

Reviewing the plans.

The cement truck arrives.

The concrete moves from the cement truck to the pumping truck.

The worker on the ground throws a rope to the worker on the catwalk.

Keeping an eye on things.

After the concrete is poured, the concrete vibrator is used to make it settle evenly.
At the north end, the ceiling continues to take shape.

Day 334: 27 September 2013

The semicircular metal supports and wooden forms for the two arches were installed today in preparation for the next round of concrete, which is scheduled for tomorrow.  As the shadows indicate, the first three pictures were taken in the morning, the last two at the end of the day.

Day 333: 26 September 2013

This picture was taken on Wednesday morning.
It's getting harder to see anything from street level as the walls get higher.
The cement truck is becoming a familiar sight. Today a lot more concrete was poured raising the east walls of the building. As always, the pictures are in chronological order; the earliest were taken mid-morning, the latest mid-afternoon.
